Motul is combining the newest and best performing synthetic base oils to exceed car manufacturers’ requirements. The 8100 range is basically a combi-product with many different car manufacturers approvals whereas the specific range is dedicated for special approvals from given car manufacturers.
8100 X-CESS 5W40
DESCRIPTION: 100% Synthetic high-performance Gasoline and Diesel engine oil for powerful and recent cars fitted with large displacement engines. Multi-purpose product featuring numerous car maker approvals especially recommended for vehicles still under warranty. Compatible for catalytic converters.
The ACEA B4 performance requires an outstanding detergent/dispersant power and a better viscosity increase resistance due to soot produced by Direct Injection Diesel engines (except VW unit injector engines that require a VW 505 01 product such as Motul 8100 X-Clean 5W-40).
The Porsche A40 standard requires extreme high shear resistance from the lubricant. This specification applies to all PORSCHE engines, except Cayenne V6 and Diesel versions (for these specific engines, use an approved Porsche C30 lubricant such as Motul 8100 X-Clean+ 5W-30).
8100 X-CLEAN 5W40
DESCRIPTION: 100% Synthetic High-Performance Gasoline and Diesel engine oil for latest generation cars, requiring high HTHS and mid SAPS oils. EURO 4, EURO 5 and EURO 6 emission regulation compliant. Compatible with catalytic converters and Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF).
It provides significant oil film resistance and low emission performance for powerful engines. Specifications VW 502 00 and VW 505 01 require outstanding detergent/dispersant power, high oil film resistance, and better viscosity increase resistance due to soot in order to cover many Gasoline engines and most of Direct Injection Diesel engines (unit injector system, fixed oil drain interval, check owner’s manual).
Attention, do not use Motul 8100 X-Clean 5W-40 when a VW 504 00 or VW 507 00 lubricant is required, in that case, use Motul 8100 X-Clean+ 5W-30.

DESCRIPTION: 100% Synthetic lubricant, specially designed for last generation cars from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat), powered with gasoline, diesel engines meeting EURO 4, 5 or 6 emission regulation and flexible drain intervals. Compatible with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF).
Volkswagen for their VW 504 00 and VW 507 00 standards require from the lubricant to be fully compatible with their after-treatment systems such as catalytic converters and DPFs to ensure the highest durability of most Gasoline and Diesel engines of VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda vehicles.
Motul 8100 X-Clean+ 5W-30 fully answer all those various requests that BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and VW have developed for their lubricant standards through engine oils with high HTHS (> 3.5 mPa.s), reduced Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulfur content (Low SAPS), suitable for use with modern gasoline after-treatment systems.
